Wreck-It Ralph, is the 9-foot-tall 600-pound behemoth after whom Disney’s 2012 3D release is named, is property damage waiting to happen. As a full time resident of the arcade game Fix-It Felix, his job is to completely destroy the game’s sole high-rise building while Fix-It Felix, Jr., the game’s hero, races to fix it. Ralph is actually a big sweetheart with nothing against Felix, whom he describes as a perfectly nice guy who fixes things well.   Which, he adds, isn’t all that impressive really considering Felix’s dad gave him a magical hammer.

While pondering the role fate seems to have cast him in as the game’s villain character, the good natured and gentle Ralph opines, “I ask you, are there any medals for the sweet science of wrecking? Hah! No.”  Although Ralph is a philosophical soul, he does realize that he has been living the sweet life during his run as a successful video game character for 30 years straight, and that other video game characters have not been so fortunate as he.

The characters wind up at a meeting of Bad-Anon (an Alcoholics Anonymous type of meeting for villains starring in video games.)  Their motto is “One game at a time.”  It brings back to mind the Finding Nemo scene where Dori is attending an ‘Anonymous meeting with sharks, whose motto is “Fish are Friends, not Food!”

Here is Disney’s official statement following a very brief, sneak preview for the press:

Wreck-It Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan-win a medal-but soon wrecks everything, and accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade?
